Nancy Pearson

Nancy Pearson

Vice President of BPM, SOA, WebSphere, and Industry Marketing, IBM, Armonk

Nancy is responsible for all aspects of Marketing and Channel initiatives and leads the IBM Smarter Planet “Smart Work” cross-IBM global marketing campaign. Nancy led the launch of IBM’s Information Agenda methodology and Smart Planet “New intelligence” campaign efforts. Prior to this, she was vice president of Global Marketing Tivoli Software. Mrs. Pearson has 24 years experience in IBM in marketing, and launched IBM’s Linux marketing effort.

Nancy holds both a BA degree from Pace University and a master’s degree from Fordham University. She holds degrees in Psychology and Adult Education, and a Market Management Certification from Columbia University.

Alexon Khor

Alexon Khor leads the low carbon solutions cooperation with cities in Shell. Alexon has been leading a ‘Sustainable Energy Cooperation’, with focus on low carbon energy development, with the Shanghai City since 2005. He has worked with various city and national government agencies on low carbon economy development policies and energy scenarios development. Alexon is an energy sector professional with various assignments within Shell businesses – Exploration & Production, Group Scenario Planning, Gas & Power, Future Fuels & CO2 and Oil Products. Geographically, his business development experience covers the Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Nigeria Oman, Abu Dhabi, Egypt, India and Asia Pacific countries. Jeff Fulgham

Jeff Fulgham is responsible for global strategic marketing initiatives on existing and emerging markets, and leads the business intelligence, regional segmentation, and commercial training functions for the business. Before assuming his current role in 2006, Jeff was the General Manager of Global Marketing. A 28-year veteran in the water industry, Jeff began his career in 1981 in industrial water treatment chemical sales at Nalco. In 1989, he joined Betz Laboratories. From 1998 to 2002, he held positions of increasing responsibility within the commercial and corporate sales organizations.

Jeff holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio State University. He resides in Doylestown, Pennsylvania with his family.

Geoff Zeiss

Geoff Zeiss

Geoff Zeiss works in enterprise geospatial IT solutions for large enterprises worldwide. He has extensive experience in geospatial software solutions for utilities, communications, and the public sector. His interests include geospatially-enabling infrastructure management workflows, the aging work force and the impact of Web 2.0, and the convergence of architecture, engineering, geospatial and 3D visualization technologies.

In 2004, Geoff received one of ten annual global technology awards from Oracle Corporation for his technical innovation and leadership in the use of Oracle. Zeiss earned a doctorate from McGill University, and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.

Jack Armstrong

Jack Armstrong graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas and began working for BASF in 1989.

Jack’s duties focus on bundling BASF’s high performance building products into integrated systems that result in a whole greater than the sum of its parts… better buildings for a better planet.

Jack’s areas of specialty include near-zero energy home and commercial building, energy retrofit solutions, carbon reduction strategies, sustainable infrastructure and chemical industry market intelligence.

Ron Binz

Ron Binz

Colorado Public Utilities Commission, Denver

Ron Binz was appointed as Chairman of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission by Governor Bill Ritter. Ron was previously President of Public Policy Consulting, specializing in policy and regulatory issues in telecom and energy. Ron also served as President of the Competition Policy Institute (CPI), based in Washington, D.C., and for eleven years, until 1995, Ron directed the Colorado Office of Consumer Counsel, the state’s utility consumer advocate. Ron was previously President of the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates (NASUCA).

Ron received a B.A. in Philosophy from St. Louis University in 1971 and an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Colorado in 1977.

Dr. Douglas Arent

Dr. Douglas Arent

Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis at NREL, Golden

Douglas Arent is Executive Director of the Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). He specializes in strategic planning and financial analysis competencies; clean energy technologies and energy and water issues; and international and governmental policies.

Arent also has expertise in strategic market management, product planning, and risk portfolio management. Prior to joining NREL, Arent was a management consultant to clean energy companies, providing strategy, development, and market counsel. Arent holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University, an M.B.A. from Regis University, and a B.S. from Harvey Mudd College in California.

Drew Torbin

Drew Torbin

Drew Torbin has overseen projects in North America and Europe and grown the aggregate pipeline to over 100 megawatts. He now oversees global strategy for the group as well as North American project execution.

Mr. Torbin received his M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, his B.S. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is currently completing post-graduate studies at Stanford. Drew is a LEED Accredited Professional, and was named to the Denver Business Journal’s Forty under 40 list for 2009.

Henry Saint-Bris joined the Suez Group in 1996 and has since held positions of increasing responsibility. In 2003-2006, he was posted in the US as Senior Vice President of SUEZ ENVIRONMENT North America, managing water and waste assets across the US and Canada. Prior to Suez, Saint Bris spent seven years with Ernst & Young where he was Founder of the E&Y Environment Group in France. He als spent 2 years in India with Aerospatiale/EADS.

He holds a diploma from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (economy and finance) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Université Paris IX Dauphine. H. Saint Bris also holds a post graduate degree in Environment Management and Engineering from Ecole des Mines de Paris.

Mark Kapner

Mark Kapner

Mark Kapner, P.E., was instrumental in developing and running Austin’s GreenChoice Program, the nation’s leading renewable energy marketing program. He has 30 years of experience in energy technology and environmental engineering and policy. Prior to Austin, Kapner launched TerraSolar USA, a solar photovoltaics company based in New Jersey. He has a BS in Engineering Science from the State University of New York and a Masters in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University.

Dan Probst, LEED AP

Dan Probst was the founding member of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Global Environmental Sustainability Board and currently serves as Chairman of Energy and Sustainability Services. He is responsible for developing and delivering products and services to help clients reduce energy costs and their real estate related environmental footprint through innovative portfolio and occupancy strategies, workplace standards, and operating practices. He also serves as Chairman of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Global Sustainability Board, which promotes and implements sustainable practices within the firm’s own operations and supply chain.

In his 28 years in commercial real estate—including 21 with Jones Lang LaSalle—Mr. Probst has played key roles in diverse areas of the business. Early in his career, he led the development of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Facility Management business and while overseeing the firm’s Engineering and Operations group, launched the firm’s Energy Services and Mobile Engineering practices. Dan has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University, is a registered Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional.

Carol Battershell

Executive Director for Field Operations (Acting),

Carol joined the Department of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), in 2008 after 25 years in the energy industry with Standard Oil and BP. As Executive Director Field Operations (acting) she is responsible for all EERE field operations, including direct leadership of the Golden, Colorado office which has over 400 staff and is responsible for contracts and monitoring of about $7 billion dollars in 2010 of clean energy grants.

Her most recent roles at BP included: Vice President, Policy and Strategy for BP Alternative Energy where she was instrumental in developing the strategy and business case for an 8 billion dollar investment to launch and grow the new BP Alternative Energy division, and Vice CPresident, Renewables and Alternative Fuels where she directed BP’s global activities in hydrogen and European wind business. She began her career as a refinery engineer in Ohio. Carol has a BS in engineering from Purdue University where she specialized in environmental engineering and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. She has worked in a variety of locations in the United States, and has spent ten years living and working in Europe.

Robyn McGuckin

Ms. McGuckin has been a consultant to various branches of the US Government for over thirteen years, managing the creation, redesign and management of strategic programs in conventional and renewable energy for the Department of Energy, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the Pentagon, and others. During that time she has also consulted to the World Bank, the Asia Development Bank, the UNDP and others on the subject of climate change and energy. A significant portion of her career has been spent on infrastructure programs of geo-political strategic value, including post-disaster reconstruction and conflict regions. She has focused specifically in the areas of complex program start-up and management, corporate and program strategy, and project development and management in power, climate change and transportation. Ms. McGuckin has a BS in Biological Systems Engineering and an MS in Biological and Agricultural Engineering. She has lived and worked in the U.S., South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.

Eric Marsh

As Executive Vice-President for our Natural Gas Economy team, Eric is responsible for pursuing the development of expanded natural gas markets in North America including involvement in government and regulatory relations to expand these markets.

In 2000, Eric joined one of Encana’s predecessor companies as Team Lead of the Jonah Field in Wyoming. In 2002, Eric accepted the role as Vice-President, South Rockies Business Unit, and oversaw operations that grew gas production from 30 million cubic feet equivalent per day (MMcfe/d) to more than 500 MMcfe/d in the Piceance Basin, DJ Basin, and Uintah Basin of Eastern Utah. In 2007, Eric relocated to Calgary to lead the Bighorn Business Unit in the Canadian Foothills Division. His team was responsible for an annual 30 percent growth in production and 150 percent growth in reserve replacement. In 2009, Eric returned to the U.S. and assumed the role of Vice-President of Corporate Environmental Health and Safety and Supply Management.

Eric graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering. He has been in the oil and natural gas industry for over 25 years, starting his career with Questar Corporation in Salt Lake City, UT. While working with Questar, he held various positions leading up to Production/Operations Manager for the Rocky Mountain Region in Denver, Colorado. Eric sits on both the Foundation and Engineering Boards of the University of Wyoming. He and his wife, Laura, have three children.

William Mosher

Bill is a noted community leader in Colorado and developer of urban projects. He has been active in ULI’s Transit Oriented Development (TOD) public outreach programs. Mosher succeeds Mike Komppa as chair of ULI Colorado on July 1, 2009. Mosher joined Trammell Crow Company in March 2006 as Area Director. He oversees the company’s development and investment activities in Colorado. He currently manages over $125 million in projects, including the 1900 16th Street office building in Downtown Denver and the Luce at Lowry condominiums. He also serves as CEO of the Denver Convention Center Hotel Authority, which developed and owns the new Hyatt Regency.

In 2003, he formed Mosher Sullivan Development Partners, where he developed the Denver Newspaper Agency building. He previously was President and COO of Mile High Development (MHD), which developed the Webb Municipal Office Building. Prior to that Mosher served as President of the Downtown Denver Partnership from 1991 to 1999. The Denver native holds an MS in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Arizona. He is currently Chairman of the Board of the Denver Housing Authority, a member of the Colorado Forum, and a member of the boards of the Griese Foundation, Civic Results Inc. and the Downtown Denver Partnership’s Denver Civic Ventures.
